The Truth About The Featured Acoustic Playlist ‘09
I John Orara, C.F.O of BTVfam, assume all responsibility for the following statements:
I don’t know what type of skew or spin many of you heard in the past, but the statements that I’m about to make are backed by empirical evidence and from the charity itself.
As you all know the Featured Acoustic Playlist ‘09 was put together with the main intention of donating to the Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF). With that understanding CHF gave Jae aka sinxjae the rights to promote last years show using CHF’s name. For many of you that attended the event perceived it as a success. From an entertainment standpoint YES, but from a charitable point of view… NOT EVEN CLOSE! This is what Morgan Owen from the Children’s Hunger Fund stated when I approached them this year to be the charity of choice for F.A.P 2.0 once again,
“Our main concern with getting involved again with the project was the fact that we put quite a bit of time into meeting with Jae and helping get all of the paypal stuff worked out and then we did not receive a donation. “ -Morgan Owen Children’s Hunger Fund
Last year after all that was said and done, CHF DID NOT receive a single donation from the “founder” of the Featured Acoustic Playlist ‘09. The whole pitch from the “founders” part was all bark and no bite! When we proposed to run this year’s show using them as the primary charity, CHF was extremely hesitant to be associated with the event again because they were under the assumption that they were going to be dealing with the “Founder” once more. So immediately it was a no go! Having worked with CHF in the past aside from F.A.P2.0 I had to reassure them that this years Featured Acoustic Playlist 2.0 will NOT be run by Jae aka SinxJae. With some of our reputations on the line CHF agreed once again to work with us, given that we were a completely new committee and with totally separate associations from the original show planner/Founder. This committee was put together specifically for the camaraderie shared within BTVfam and to bring a reasonable profit to CHF from which it was robbed of last year. When it comes to charities and in this case feeding hungry children, empty promises are something they shouldn’t be wasting their time on. CHF understands that and has faith that this new committee will follow through. Their trust is in the profits that we, members of the new committee, have donated to them in the past years.
Since last year’s “Founder” did not donate a single penny or dime to Charity, I’m not going to assume where all that money went, it has a been a commitment for this year’s new F.A.P 2.0 committee to put together an amazing show and DONATE our proceeds to CHF. We specifically chose to donate to CHF again because we feel that we owe them a lot. Having their name be used in the past to justify running a show and not being able to donate a single dime to them does not sit well with BTVfam. CHF is one of the most successful and effective charities out there! We at BTVfam feel that it is our part to give back to those who dedicated their time and effort into giving back to the less fortunate.
In closing, this year’s F.A.P 2.0, committee is not in association with last years “founder” as an agreement with the charity. We are a separate entity from the “founder” that was brought together with the purpose of fixing and repairing the bonds that were broken with the Children’s Hunger Fund. With that said I hope you all will help us make that effort in giving back to CHF what was promised, but never met. I believe we all could do a little extra to show that we, the youth, are just as strong and effective as the rest of the world in bringing about positive change.
